Is it normal to see a sudden increase in the amount of hair you are losing?
As much as 15% of the hairs on the scalp are in the telogen phase at any given time. (Telogen is the resting phase when the mature hair is being shed and replaced). During the telogen phase there is little or no connection between the hair and the follicle, but the hair may become “trapped” in build up on the scalp and appear to remain in the follicle longer than it should. Using the NIOXIN systems will help to remove build up and thereby release the hair in the Telogen phase more quickly. It is normal for a healthy scalp to shed up to 100 hairs a day so you may observe an increase in the first few weeks of cleansing your hair effectively. All of the treatments in the NIOXIN system are designed to leave the hair and scalp looking better than before their application.

Will NIOXIN products help reduce static electricity in the hair?
Due to winter cold and dryness, heat in buildings, wearing hats, etc. fine hair tends to have more static electricity. Providing moisture usually helps and NIOXIN products will do this. It is recommended to be sure to leave the Scalp Therapy on 1-3 minutes. If the individual needs additional moisture, NIOXIN offers 3 different types of Hair Masques and two different types of leave in conditioners; Bliss and Silk Elixir.

Cleanser will remove environmental residue from the scalp skin; the Treatment will protect the scalp from environmental residues. All products work in concert to improve the overall scalp environment.

Do NIOXIN products contain thermal protection?
Thermal protection is found in Bliss and the Glossing Color Shield.

Are NIOXIN products water soluble?
Yes all current NIOXIN products are water soluble, in that they diffuse/solublize through water.

Daily use of the NIOXIN system cleanses excess sebum containing elevated levels of Dihydrotestosterone, (DHT) from the scalp and hair.

What is the difference in the Cleansers for normal to thin looking hair and the noticeably thinning formulas?
The difference is in the formulation. There is a unique combination of proprietary technologies in each of our 8 cleansers.
• The cleansers formulated for normal to thin looking hair include a Transactive Delivery System that provides the skin and hair with nourishment through a time-release based delivery system.
• The cleansers formulated for noticeably thinning hair include the Scalp Access Delivery System which provides nutrients to the scalp and hair by using a chaperone molecule system. This provides nourishment to the scalp skin that has a lot more UV and environmental exposure.

What makes NIOXIN different from any other hair care regimen?
Most other products address the dead keratin fibre called “hair”, cleansing and moisturizing the hair fibre to make the hair shiny and smooth. NIOXIN products are formulated very differently. They are first and foremost, skin care products for the scalp, which is a living organic tissue. And then adapted to work in an environment that has hair in the environment. People with fine and thin looking hair may see an increase in thickness and volume in 10 or less applications.

What is the pH Balance of our Cleansers?
All NIOXIN products have a ph range between 5.0 to 7.5.

Why does the NIOXIN Scalp Therapy vary in consistency?
Due to the complexity of the product and the ingredients within the product, Scalp Therapy has a wide viscosity range. The difference in viscosity does not change the effectiveness of the product, but can cause a consumer to see or feel the difference in-hand.

How has the addition of the Bio-Amp complex affected the texture and visual quality of System #1 Cleanser and Scalp Therapy?
The client should not see a change in texture or clarity due to this addition. NIOXIN specification on the viscosity (thickness) can vary 3000 cps. Some astute people will notice the difference, but very rarely. The colour can vary slightly as well, because of the use of natural herbs and botanicals.

Are NIOXIN products considered Vegan?
No.

Do NIOXIN products have a shelf life?
NIOXIN Systems 2, 4, 6 and 8 Scalp Treatments and the Recharging Complex have an expiration which is listed on the bottle. Any other NIOXIN products have a 36 month shelf after opening by the consumer. Once the product has been open for more than 36 months it may not be as effective as it once was.
